1) One unfortunate thing about current working practices -- aside from the fact that we pitch up at 11.45am, go to a meeting, go buy lunch, eat lunch at our desks and then do not move until 7.30pm -- is that there's no opportunity to check LJ until I get it and I often don't look until 11 or so. This is how I miss the fact that aside from a couple of pieces of good fortune, the world has gone to hell. (offline also, though not in my family circle thank goodness, touch wood etc. )

*Enough*, okay? Be well. Have nice stuff happen. No health scares, no money worries, no car crashes. No acts of God or terrorist falling on the unsuspecting. No medical incompetence. No cruelty. And no more effing hurricanes.

2) A bit of Shakespeare:
Come, you spirits
That tend on mortal thoughts! unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe top full
Of direst cruelty; make thick my blood,
Stop up the access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of nature
Shake my fell purpose.

. . . as I say every day on my way to work.

3) Under *no* circumstances should you spoil yourself for what happens in Spooks 4.04. Just download.

There is good Adam and excellent Harry in it, negligible Ruth and Zaf, fun Colin and Malcolm stuff. It is the villain in this that is outstanding and the sheer twistiness of the script, despite having to overcome one particularly unbelievable plot contrivance.

It's no 1.02, 3.01 or 3.10, but then what is? The Carter family still appears to have a giant neon sign over their heads reading "Woe ahead!" but this is pure speculation on my part.

4) I felt as though I had a good deal to say this evening when I came home but it all seems to have drifted away in a tide of bad news. I shall return to my book (Snow by Orhan Pamuk, about suicides in a fundamentalist poor town in Turkey; good so far but I haven't got far) and wish you all a very safe, uneventful night.

Well, I heard Rupert Penry Jones on the radio the other day talking about the quality of the scripts for season 5, so I am guessing it's Fiona and little Redshirt who are not long for this world. See episode 5 for the other reason I believe that.

I thought Juliet was supposed to be smart, if unethical?

I suspect Duckface is only going to be as smart as the plot of the script allows -- she's too convenient as a plot propellant.
