The pleasant bit:

Many happy returns ( a bit late) to sophia_helix and muridae_x. I hope the day itself was delightful and that the year to come is productive and happy.

And now...

(2) "I would like you to know that I came upon your journal via "friendsfriends" and discovered you were writing about something that I totally disagree with (you mad uptight bitch). So even though you weren't remotely flamey and just said "Guys, I really don't like this and here is why, but hey, Not My Beautiful Cake" *in your own journal* I am going to take issue with you in the comments section and imply that you are stupid and bellicose.

Then I am going to get my mates to pile on as well, because I know that your reasonable, fairly mildly phrased criticism is actually OPPRESSING MY RIGHT TO FREE EXPRESSION, OMG.!!!11!eleventy!

Also I think that "Live and Let Live" is the name of a Bond theme

Also I have more right to an opinion about this than you because my second cousin once delivered milk to Andy Taylor of Duran Duran and I read
Heat magazine so I know more about celebrity than you ever will -- I know that famous people don't mind it when they appear in stories in which they molest small furry animals, engage in coprophagy and take it up the arse from the ugly one off series five of Big Brother. Additionally, I bet you only posted this to get on fandom_wank, you mad thrill-seeker, you

Honestly. I can't believe God gave some of you people opposable thumbs if you're just going to use them to demonstrate your own ridiculousness.

But by all means, if you're reading this and I've got you wrong, please come and take issue. I gesture at my icon and laugh in your face.

(8) Thud by Terry Pratchett is fantastic, but if you're still reading Pratchett for the plot, you're in trouble. The plot is awful. Everything else -- wonderful. Most relevant book to the current state of the world that I have read all year.

(9) Except maybe Snow by Orhan Pamuk. I cannot recommend that highly enough either.

Okay. Done.

Nearly laughed until I wet my pants.

Seriously.

Especially at #2. Trust K. to make it all better, or at least far more amusing that it used to be.

I think you made a wise decision to lock down your entry. You also made me want to watch Rock Hudson movies.

I have Been Told that I must read your journal. I totally agree, although this post did make me spit my Coke out onto my monitor. I'll just not drink anything while doing so.

On 3 - my cat definitely calls me and my husband "staff" as in, "Open the frackin' door, staff member!! Right MEOW!!!!"

On 6 - oh, finally, someone who agrees with me ::ducks the things John Lennon lovers throw::

On 7 - I dunno, she's not so bad compared to most of our government

Hello there. I think we once met.

As for Keira Knightley, no I don't find her as objectionable as the Bush administration -- or as the Guardian had it last Friday, the madministration -- but I do see more of her than the Bush administration right now and I would like for that to stop *g*

(0) - YAY! Good to hear it, and I want to hear more. It's long overdue.

1) -- Hmm. Think I owe you mail, actually. I tend to lose track. I've been missing you, and it cheered me up immensely to see you posting.

2) Bwahahahaha! Thank you. Also I have more right to an opinion about this than you because my second cousin once delivered milk to Andy Taylor of Duran Duran and I read Heat magazine so I know more about celebrity than you ever will ::snorfles helplessly into decaf Irish Breakfast::

3) No argument from me. Dogs are clearly superior. Um, except when they eat the wall. And vomit on the car seat. And so forth.

7) If it's any consolation, Domino is getting Very Bad Reviews, although most of them are focused on the seizure-inducing editing techniques rather than Keira's performance. I am willing to keep her, however, if you send over Ciaran Hinds or Colin Firth to keep me company. You know, just to have a set.

8) Thud is only out in hardcover here, and I'm too much the cheapskate to buy it. Shall wait.

No comments on Spooks 407? I haven't watched it yet, but I may, before I go to bed.

I talked to Fi last weekend (not this one, the one before that): she sounds frantically busy but quite cheerful. Skype is our friend! Yay Skype!

Really, I can't say how pleased I am to see you show up on my flist. Your posts, even the angry ones, never fail to cheer me up. It's extra happy-making to see you be cheerful and pissed as a newt. Heee.

You're right. Dogs are just as revolting as cats, it's just that they don't act so bloody superior *g*

Oh watch it! It is purest fanfic. I loved it, a little guiltily. There's backstory and everything

Ah Yes...
How much joy it gives my heart to se that the Altar has been consecrated, and cats have been sacrificed upon it for the Good of LJ-Kind.

my second cousin once delivered milk to Andy Taylor of Duran Duran Ah! but my mother in law used to have coffee with his mother twenty years ago - unless it was the mother of the other Taylor in Duran Duran - it was some famous person called Taylor anyway - and so I AM THE WORLD EXPERT on fame. Oh, and my daughter once travelled on the same plane as Aled Jones - so actually I am the universe's expert on famous people!! But you, dear infinitemonkeys, have my full permission to pontificate on every famous person in the world - so no-one should ever, ever diss you again!!

Bet you're glad about that eh?

And my cat allowed me to say it as well. (Actually he really did - he shifted his mean evil ass off the keyboard so that I could reach the keys!)

And John Lennon and Imagine? Absolutely - mean bugger, trite song.

See, this is the thing about cats. They run the households they are in. Evil overlords, every one.

RE: KK Expression #4: Thank you so much for the translation of that expression. Maybe I just don't speak the British good enough, but I wasn't sure what emotion she was trying to convey exactly. And as for your country's foisting KK upon us -- as long as Jordan stays on her side of the Atlantic, all will be well.

However, after seeing a preview of the new P & P last evening, I'm feeling as if someone ought to take a run over to Winchester to see if they can stop poor Jane from rotating at such a high speed. It can't be good for the cathedral.

:: feels vaguely nauseated still ::

That is my opinion, and you are welcome to it.

I am VERY pleased to hear about #1.

#3 - Sahara is working up a hairy hork-ball just for your next visit. I'm warning you now.

ITA about #6, too.

Must go and get a copy of #8.

(2) I know, but some people have an aversion to unwashed microcelebs with serious personality disorders, let alone engaging in the subtle arts of bootylove with them. Craziness.

(3) Groinbulge. Underarock. Patronisinggobshite, Wyoming. Somewhere like that

(4) Yes, but let the dogs drink from them and keep coal in the bath.

(7) She is really pretty. And until she was ubiquitous, I was fine with her, fine even with her "I am ACK-ting" school of acting. But enough is enough.

(8) I quite liked that one. "The Truth" was uncannily like working in newspapers and I had deep love for "Nightwatch". "Thud" is adorable. The MacGuffin is crap but everything surrounding it is wonderful.

(9) Because it's wonderfully well-written on a subject I don't know much about

Now, how are you this week? That's what I want to know.
