To make up for being gloomy, I thought I would post something that some of you might enjoy.

Bleak Expectations. It is a radio comedy, which riffs off "Great Expectations", "David Copperfield", "Nicholas Nickleby" and other Dickens novels. It is unbelievably silly. Gloriously silly. With lots of over-the-top running jokes, silly names and an obsession with squirrels. There are six episodes. Anthony Stewart Head plays the villain of the piece among other parts.

It's one of those things which gets funnier as the running jokes pile up, but I feel that I must reiterate that it is VERY SILLY. So you're warned. This is the first part. There are six.

And now, because I haven't done this in forever. The lyrics meme. I have ignored stuff which is deeply obscure and gone for my five-star itunes playlist, so it's not the first 15 but the most interesting 15. That said, if someone gets No 8, I'll make 'em a mix CD if they want

1. I'm not here, this isn't happening</s> Radiohead, How To Disappear Completelyerehwesle

2. When the day is done and it all works out, I'd love to do it and you know you've always had it coming

3. The lights went on and everybody screamed "surprise!" Noails in my Feet, Crowded House vonnie_k

4. What were the skies like when you were young? Little Fluffy Clouds, The Orb corianderstem

5. Uganda, Shennington, Sudbury, Sri Lanka

6. You used to speak the truth but now you're clever

7. Do you move through the room with a glass in your hand, thinking too hard about the way you stand? Forget Myself, Elbow predictivememo, vonnie_k

8. I made the voyage on the [title of album]

9. It's kind of tough to tell a scruff the big mistake he's making Stand and Deliver, Adam and the Ants predictivememo

10. Better give me something to fill the hole before I sputter out Novocaine for the Soul, Eelstimesink

11. Girls will be boy and boys will be girls; it's a mixed up muddled up shook up world Lola, The Kinks musesfool

12. Listen to the music taking you to places that you've never been before, baby, now

13. Where the buildings are old and you might have lots of mimes North American Scum, LCD Soundsystem predictivememo

14. His rope, my wrists, I never knew there might be days like this

15. Time is short and life is cruel but it's up to us to change Town Called Malice, The Jammusesfool

And finally, I meant to post this before Christmas but was experiencing page fright. Yoav is a new artist, originally from South Africa, and he creates strange tense danceable music. I got his album in December and this remains my favourite track
Club Thing

Tell me this isn't a vampire vid waiting to happen.

Oh, but when you're in one of *those* moods, it's a great song to put on repeat and just roll around in for hours. Or maybe that's just me. *g*

I need some Torchwood icons!

Nope, not just you. My other one is the live version of "Like Spinning Plates" which I spent a while listening to over and over again.

Speaking of Radiohead, have you seen this?

I hope you like it. If you do, let me know and I can post more (or you can probably find it onlineish) AS I said, it works best through joke repetition and the first episode is probably the weakest

Yes, of course. Yoav is terrific. Bit samey as an album but four or five golden tracks on there

I usually know very few either. Most of these aren't too obscure but they are a bit Anglocentric

A pleasure. Let me know if you like it. The first episode is actually the weakest. It is deeply silly. I love it.

Is #4 by The Orb? Little Fluffy Clouds ... I think that's the title? It starts with a little spoken line or two, right? Maybe? Am I completely insane?

Nice! I couldn't believe I knew it, since I hated that song back in college. I didn't know any of the other lyrics you posted, even if I was somewhat familiar with the songs.
