My mood should be RIGHTEOUS because Elbow just won the Mercury music prize for The Seldom Seen Kid. How many times have I said that this was an amazing, heart-warming and beautiful album? I am now listening to them on Radio 2 singing One Day Like This slightly drunkenly in the style of Chas and Dave. Radcliffe and Maconie are just as overjoyed for them. I LOVE THIS BAND. They are fantastic live, they make you laugh and they can make you cry just as easily. And I know this means I am going to have to share them now, but I'll live.

Just in case you have not been assimilated yet, here are four magnificent tracks from the album:
Grounds for Divorce, used in the trailer for the current Coen Brothers film
Some Riot
Mirrorball. This is beautiful.
And finally, a slice of joy in recorded form, and the song of the summer for all sports broadcasters: One Day Like This
Buy this album. It will make your life better.

I am ill, actually, have been for a day or two, but the main difficulties have been solved by not eating. It's also only 3am. The night is middle aged.

Observe my continuing heartless lack of guilt at you spending money on Elbow. At least buy Leaders of the Free World and I'll upload a bunch of rarities for you. Can't say fairer than that.

Okay, back to listening to the avant garde music of my intestines, and writing stuff about fictional people who don't belong to me.
