Toys and things that come by the dozen -- that ain't nothin' but drug store lovin'

I'm thinking this is "Hard to Handle" by the Black Crows. As for the rest--I got nuthin'

Absolutely correct. Though I bet you any money you know 16.

13 - a morrissey song, don't know which one, but i hear his voice very clearly singing ...

14 - the rat by the walkmen

18 - the last junkie on earth by the dandy warhols.

oh, that was fun!! wish i knew more!
Dec. 21st, 2004 03:18 am (UTC)
All correct. The Rat was one of my favourite songs from last year.
Dec. 21st, 2004 03:13 am (UTC)
I am not bored of it. I am just hopeless at it.
Dec. 21st, 2004 03:20 am (UTC)
Oh, I've been completely hopeless at every single one except grifyn's. For some reason I knew a whole bunch of the ones she posted.

I do love it, though.

I should know #10, and it's on the tip of my damn tongue, but I'm brain farting.

#13 is either the Smiths or Morrissey because I can hear his voice singing it ... is it "William It Was Really Nothing"?
Dec. 21st, 2004 03:21 am (UTC)
I think you once sent me a copy of 10.

13, the group is right but the song is later than William...

Re: I finally get one! woohoo!
YES. Right on both Morrissey counts, and you're right that it's Aztec Camera.

You Are The Quarry is such a return to form. Irish Blood, English Heart expresses things I think in a way that songs haven't since I was about 15, when I was also listening obsessively to The Smiths, and particularly Stop Me...

#10-- "If I Can't Change Your Mind," Sugar.

My never-fail-feel-good-chair-dance song.
Dec. 21st, 2004 03:34 am (UTC)
Correct! Wonderful song.

3. Billy Bragg - Sab's pick from the YV CD1 - Waiting for the great leap forwards.

I am also sad you missed my fabulous Snow Patrol quote from MY lyrics meme.

Dec. 21st, 2004 04:16 am (UTC)
It is indeed Billy.

I was up north when you did your lyrics meme but I know I wouldn't have got it from that fragment. I'm rubbish at these myself.

Oh the Snow Patrol Polar Bear CD is only seven quid here, do you want it? It'll probably be even cheaper in the post-xmas sales

Oh, dude. #11 "Games, changes and fears" is Macy Gray, "I Try." And I KNOW, bone-deep, #6. It's Paul Simon, I think? Man, it's RIGHT THERE.
Dec. 21st, 2004 04:16 am (UTC)
6. isn't Paul Simon but you know it anyway, I know you do. If I had to pick someone who was likely to know it, you'd be in my top five.

#6 - "Into Temptation" by Crowded House (because I'm all about the '80's bands)

#16 - "We Are Family" (the worst part of every wedding I've been to in recent years) by The Sisters Sledge.

Take Care

Dec. 21st, 2004 04:33 am (UTC)
Both right. I used to work on the bar staff of a 70s disco which was a notorious copping off shop. It cured me of the need to hear 'We Are Family' in a public place ever again.
Dec. 21st, 2004 06:15 am (UTC)
#17. Beta Band - Dry the Rain.

I am not entirely uncool! Sort of. Damn "High Fidelity" soundtrack, betraying my uncoolness. *G*
Dec. 21st, 2004 09:11 am (UTC)
2 is Wide Open Space by Mansun :D
4 is David Gray's My oh My
8 is Fear by Ian Brown
19 is Killermont Street by Aztec Camera

Dec. 21st, 2004 10:03 am (UTC)

#9 Suede - Trash

Dec. 21st, 2004 11:42 am (UTC)
Came to the game very late ... but "14 sounds familiar" is all I've got. Sigh.

The Lyrics Meme Loser
You'd think that I would've guessed the first three of your unguessed songs since I've listened to them all approximately eleventy billion times, but no, not so much. Lyrics pop into my head when I have no reason to think of them, but when I'm *trying* to remember songs, I am a blank slate.

I am so ashamed.

Dec. 24th, 2004 03:28 pm (UTC)
God, I'm a big dork.

And the problem with that is *what*, exactly... ?
